Following the whitewash in the three match T20I series, Bangladesh women lost the first off two ODIs against Pakistan women by 29 runs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore yesterday. Opting to bat, Pakistan women openers Nahida Khan and Sidra Ameen held the innings together with a 59-run partnership for the first wicket to make a steady start for the hosts.
Although two wickets in quick succession (59-1) and ( 62-2), put the hosts into the back-foot for a while but Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof and Nahida Khan produced a much needed partnership of 69 runs for 3rd wicket to pull things back in their favour in the middle.
Tigresses, who continued maintaining tight bowling spells throughout the innings, came out successful when Jahanara Alam and Nahida Akter dismissed both the well set batsmen on 131.
Midlle-order batters Omaima Sohail and Aliya Riaz built another invaluable 54-run stand for the fifth wicket and were eying for a defendable total on the board but Panna Ghosh and Nahida Akter’s two economical spells helped Tigresses restrict the host to 215 all-out in 48.5 overs. Jahanara Alam bagged three wickets while Panna Ghosh and Nahida Akter shared two wickets apiece.
