Monica Chemicals fined Tk 10,000 for false advertisement

National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate at Kenswar Bazar of Damuda Upazila under Shariatpur District, Shariatpur District Office on Thursday at 11:30 am office of M/S Monica Chemicals in its Shariatpur Jarda factory. The original owner of the Shariatpur Jordanian factory of M/S Monica Chemicals was fined Tk 10,000 for illegally using BSTI’s seal and trademark number in the Jorda packet. National Consumer Affairs – Directorate of Protection of Rights, Shariatpur District Office Assistant Director Sujan Kazi said, “In the operation they found that M/S Monica Chemicals was illegally using BSTI’s seal and trademark number in its Shariatpuri Jorda packet, which is a violation of article 5 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act. Therefore, according to Article 5 of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, the institution was fined Tk 10,000. In addition, about one kilogram of illegal sealed labels were confiscated. The operation was conducted under the direction of Shariatpur District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner
