DJU hunger strike suspended

Dhaka Journalist Union (DJU) has suspended the hunger strike against SATV administration as it retrenched the journalists without salaries and allowances. DJU president Abu Jafar Surya was suspended the hunger strike after drunk juice on Friday at around 5:30 pm. Sohail Haider Chowdhury, general secretary of the Dhaka Journalist Union, also did same.
Ahmed Abu Jafar, general secretary of Bangladesh Municipal Journalist Forum, Vice-President Nazma Sultana Nila, Organizing Secretary Abul Kalam Azad, Mizanur Rahman, Assistant Secretary SM Jeevan, Dhaka District Vice-President Mashiur Rahman were present.
DUJ president Abu Jafar Surya fell ill at 9am on Thursday night while hunger strike in front of the SATV. He was admitted to Badda General Hospital at night.
The Bangladesh Mofossal Sangbadik Forum(BMSF) has demanded that an immediately payment of due salaries and allowances of the journalists.
BMSF central president Shahidul Islam Pilot and general secretary Ahmed Abu Jafar said, “The law of the media is not acceptable in the country. “Without pay salaries and allowances of journalists, they are not able to maintain the standard of living”, BMSF leaders also said.
The leaders further said “You media owners in Bangladesh have taking advantage of the government. It would not be acceptable to accumulate huge wealth without pay dues of journalists”.
The leaders also demanded an immediate pay the arrears of all media journalist including SA TV. Otherwise you will be deprived of the benefits of the wage board. Wednesday afternoon
