Some people identifying themselves as students gathered in the capital’s Shahbagh intersection and started demonstration in protest against the decision to postpone the scheduled examinations being held under National University.
The students took position at the Shahbagh intersection at 10:00 am on Thursday (February 25) and chanted slogans demanding the resumption of the exams postponed, causing traffic congestion in the streets.
Being informed, police visited the spot and took 10 students into their custody for interrogation.
Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shahbagh Police Station, told risingbd that: “The students were asked to leave roads but they didn’t listen to us. Rather, they locked into an altercation with police. The demonstrating students carried out an attack on police when police moved to disperse them, forcing police to take 10 students into their custody.”
