Pfizer-Bioentech coronavirus vaccine is safe and effective for children of 12 to 15 years of age. Not only that, this vaccine is able to make strong antibodies in the bodies of children.
Pfizer chairman and chief executive Albert Bourla came up with the disclosure in a statement on Wednesday (March 31).
According to Pfizer, vaccination to children may be started before the next school year.
Pfizer’s coronavirus has already been approved for use in children under 16 years of age. The new study revealed that the vaccine will work in the body of school-going children.
In a study of 2,260 US volunteers, preliminary data showed there were no cases of COVID-19 among fully vaccinated adolescents compared to 18 among those given a placebo. In this trial, the vaccine has proved to be 100% effective in preventing coronavirus.
The manufacturers plan to ask the US Food and Drug Administration and European regulators to allow emergency use of the vaccine starting at the age of 12.
