Bangabandhu Bangladesh games to continue during lockdown

Though the government is set to announce a nation-wide lockdown for seven days from April 5 (Monday), the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games will continue, said Bashir Ahmed Mamun, chairman of the games steering committee.

He said, “The games will be suspended after the government will issue a circulation in this regard.”

Amid the risk of coronavirus infection, the 9th Bangabandhu Bangladesh Games was inaugurated on April 01 (Thursday) marking the 50th anniversary of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The games will continue till April 10.

A total of 5300 athletes will vie for the 1271 medals in 378 events of 31 disciplines in 29 venues across seven divisional cities and in the capital.
