The passenger launch ‘Sabit Al Hasan’ that sank with over 50 passengers on board in the River Shitalakshya in Narayanganj on Sunday has been rescued after 18 hours of the accident.
Divers recovered 21 bodies from inside the launch that was rescued around 12:20pm on Monday.
With these, the death toll rose to 26. Earlier, bodies of five women were retrieved from the river on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, two probe bodies have been formed to investigate the accident.
The district administration has formed a seven-member committee, headed by the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) while
the BIWTA formed a four-member body with BIWTA director Rafiqul Islam as its convener.
On Sunday evening, ‘MV Sabit Al Hasan’ capsized in the River Shitalakshya with more than 50 passengers on board.
