Public transport services resumed operations in the capital from early Wednesday as per the government’s directive.
The government on Tuesday decided to resume public transport services in all 11 cities in the country from Wednesday.
The services will be available in the cities from 6:00am to 6:00pm every day until further directives, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said at a virtual press conference.
The country enforced a weeklong lockdown across the country from Monday to curb coronavirus transmission.
On Wednesday (April 6), Mirpur 1, 2, 10, Shyamoli, Kalyanpur, Gabtali, Kalabagan, Farmgate and New Market areas of the capital were visited. It was seen that buses, private cars, CNG auto-rickshaws, rickshaws and motorcycles were playing on the roads.
It was seen that office-going people have been waiting for public transports to reach their destinations from the morning. Some people have already caught buses and going to the offices.
