A court in Dhaka placed Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Maulana Mamunul Haque on another five-day remand in two sabotage cases filed with Paltan police station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder on Tuesday (May 4) passed the order when police produced Mamunul Haque before the court with another 17-day remand prayer on completion of 14-day remand in two phases.
Earlier around 12:30pm on Sunday (April 18), police arrested Maulana Mamunul Haque from Jamia Rahmania Arabia madrasa in the capital’s Mohammadpur. On April 19, the court granted a seven-day remand for him in a vandalism case.
On April 26 in 2013, the court placed Mamunul Haque on four-day remand in a case filed with Paltan police station over Hefazat’s mayhem in the capital’s Motijheel area and three-day remand in another case filed with Motijheel police station over the anti-Modi violence.
