Lockdown being extended, police getting judicial power

The ongoing nationwide lockdown, which was declared to be effective until May 16, is being extended for another week to prevent the coronavirus infection. During the increasing lockdown, police are likely to be given the judicial power to ensure 100 per cent mask use.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain made the disclosure to the reporters on Thursday (May 13).

The ongoing lockdown is scheduled to be ended on May 16. But people are going home to celebrate the Eid ignoring the restrictions issued by the government. In this situation, the government is mulling to extended the lockdown for another week.

State Minister Farhad Hossain on Tuesday (May 11) said, “Indian variant of the coronavirus has already been identified in the country. It may worsen the situation. Stricter measure is being taken to prevent the infection.”
