Former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan, 81, has passed away (Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’un).
The former state minister breathed his last at his residence in the capital on Tuesday night.
Confirming the matter, Kapasia Upazila Parishad (UP) chairman Advocate Md. Amanat Hossain Khan said the Namaz-e-Janaza of the deceased will be held at 4:30 pm on Wednesday at Dardaria Government Primary School ground adjacent to his house at Dardaria in Kapasia upazila.
Afsar Uddin, younger brother of Bangladesh’s first prime minister Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad. Born in Dardaria village of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur, Afsar Uddin’s father’s name is Md. Yasin Khan and mother Meherunnesa Khan.
Advocate Afsar Uddin Ahmed Khan was elected MP from Gazipur-4 (Kapasia) constituency with the nomination of Bangladesh Awami League in the 7th parliamentary election of 1996. Later in that year, he was nominated for State Minister for Housing and Public Works, however, resigned six months later.
