Schools, colleges in Delhi closed as air pollution levels soar

The air pollution in India has increased again, for this, The Commission for Air Quality Management has instructed to shut down educational institutions till further notice.
All public, private schools, colleges and educational institutions have been ordered to remain closed from Tuesday night until further notice. Classes will be taken online from Wednesday.

The states under the NCR (Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh) have been instructed to comply 50 percent of their government employees work from home and non-government organizations have been asked to follow the same instructions.

To reduce pollution, construction work in the area has been halted till November 21. Besides, trucks carrying non-essential items have been banned from entering Delhi till next Sunday. At the same time, the NCR has directed that 10 to 15 years old diesel and petrol-powered vehicles not to allow on the roads.

Ahead of the directive on air pollution, senior officials from Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan met on Tuesday.

Earlier, the Delhi state government had proposed a lockdown at least on weekends to reduce air pollution. The Kejriwal administration was thinking of a seven-day lockdown if the pollution did not subside.
