Four people along with 11.22kg gold worth around Tk7 crore have been detained from Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Monday (December 27) morning.
Customs officials seized the gold along with the four people at 8:40 am.
The arrestees are identified as Sheikh Md Jahid from Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj, Makbul Ali from Kanaighat upazila of Sylhet, Bashir Uddin and Sultan Mahmud from the same area.
Al-Amin, Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Custom House, said that the four men reached at the airport by a flight (BG-248) of Bangladesh Biman Airlines from Dubai at 8:40am.
Suspicious movement of the four people forced the customs officials to challenge them when they were crossing the green channel of the airport, he said.
After scanning their luggage, the customs officials found an iron, a juicer maker and an air compressor, all of those made of gold, Al-Amin said.
Process to file a case in this regard is underway, he added.
