Over 2,000 institutions to be brought under MPO this month

A list non-government educational institutions have been finalized to bring under Monthly Pay Order (MPO). The final announcement will be made after approval of Prime Minister and Education Minister. This time, more than 2,000 educational institutions will be brought under MPO, according to sources of the Ministry of Education.

The convener of the MPO Verification and Selection Committee of non-government educational institutions Fouzia Zafrin, also Additional Secretary of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, said, “We have already finalized the list of new educational institutions for MPO enrollment. Now it is under waiting for the approval of the education minister. Then, it would be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). After the approval, the MPO enrollment of new educational institutions will be announced.”

Claiming anonymity, an official of the Ministry of Education said, “MPO enrollment of the new educational institutions will be announced in the current month.”

He said, “In the current fiscal year’s budget, there is an allocation for MPO enrollment of new educational institutions. There is an obligation to spend this allocation before the month of June. Otherwise, the allocated money will be returned. Hopefully, the new educational institutions MPO enrollment will be announced this month.”

He hinted that over 2,000 educational institutions will be brought under MPO this time.

The list includes 250 to 300 madrasas and technical institutions, he said.
