Rohingyas entering Bangladesh from India: Foreign Minister

Foreign Affairs Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen has claimed that Rohingyas are entering Bangladesh in groups from India.

He said, “‘Rohingya people are coming to Bangladesh from India in hope of better meals. This is a concern for us. Security will be beefed up at the border to prevent Rohingyas.”

The Minister said this while talking to reporters at the ministry on Tuesday (May 17).

Dr Momen said, “Unfortunately many Rohingyas are coming from India recently. These Rohingyas went there (India) nine years ago, in different provinces. Now they have heard that they would get better meals if they come to Bangladesh. The UN gives them very good food. Those are in Cox’s Bazar of our country are very happy. Relatives of the Rohingyas have informed them of their arrival here. As a result, they are now coming to our country in groups. The bad news is that there are fences and gates, they are managing them. There are brokers on the other side.”
