Voting began in Cumilla City Corporation at 8.00am on Wednesday and will continue till 4.00pm without any break.
Electronic voting machines (EVM) are being used in 640 booths of 105 polling stations.
A total of 2,29,920 voters will exercise their voting right.
Each center has adequate security measures including CCTV cameras.
Superintendent of Police Farooq Ahmed said that all necessary steps have been taken by the law enforcement agencies to strengthen the security during them elections.
Checkpoints have been set up in at least 75 places in the city. There are 27 magistrates working in 27 wards, and 3,608 members of the law enforcement agencies are working in the polling stations, the police official added.
