Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has re-fixed fares for buses of south-southwestern route which are plying on the Padma Bridge with using the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Expressway, considering the toll of the route.
Earlier, a notification signed by BRTA Director (Engineering) Sutangshu Shekhor Biswas, re-fixed fares for buses of 15 routes on Thursday.
This time, fares for buses having 40 and 51 seats have been finalised.
Earlier, BRTA fixed fares for buses of 13 routes moving from the capital’s Sayedabad Bus Terminal on June 7. Next on June 20, the fare was re-fixed with the update distance.
The distance of Barishal from Sayedabad via Mawa, Bhanga and Madaripur is 156 kilometers, the fare was fixed for the route Taka 454. Earlier, the fare was fixed at Taka 412 and Taka 421 respectively.
This time, the fare has been hiked due to changing the toll count system.
Earlier, the toll fare was divided two times with counting 100 percent fulfil of buses. But currently, the toll money has been divided with counting 70 percent of seats filled.
So, the 40-seat bus will have to pay Taka 495 for the expressway. The passenger toll stands Taka 17.67 with counting 28 seats filled. Meanwhile, the total toll including the Padma Bridge one of Dhaka-Barishal route is Taka 2,695. So, the toll for per passenger is Taka 96.25.
According to rescheduled fare list, the fare for Dhaka-Gopalganj route is Taka 423, which was earlier Taka 392. The fare for Dhaka-Khulna has been hiked to Taka 575 from Taka 537, of which Taka 100 is toll. The fare for Dhaka-Shariatpur has been increased to Taka 257 from Taka 226.
According to new fare list, the fare for Dhaka-Pirojpur route is taka 580, for Dhaka-Pirojpur via Bagherhat Taka 619, for Dhaka-Patuakhali Taka 561, for Dhaka-Madaripur Taka 344, for Dhaka-Satkhira Taka 689, for Dhaka-Faridpur Taka 323, for Shariatpur via Babubazar Taka 257, for Dhaka-Kuakata Taka 767, for Cox’s Bazar-Barishal Taka 1,388, for Chattogram-Khulna Taka 1,192 and for Chattogram-Barguna Taka 1,282.
The BRTA notification says, the fare does not include the toll fare of Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover. Every passenger will have to cost an additional of Taka 6.72 9 for 51 buses and Taka 9 for 40 seat buses which ply on the flyover.
