Stocks maintain gaining streak

Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 35.68 points or 0.57 per cent to settle at 6,281.74. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 13.92 points to finish at 2,215.25 and 9.29 points closing at 1,371.54.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 9,004.82 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 7,137.69 million.

Out of 373 issues traded, 119 closed green, 68 in the red and 186 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

BSC topped the turnover chart, followed by Genexil, ORIONPHARM, BPML and SEAPEARL.

CENTALPHL was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.91 per cent while ITC was the worst loser, losing 2.17 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 89.39 points to settle at 18,529.89 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 53.66 points to close at 11,104.71.

Of the issues traded, 78 advanced, 37 declined and 103 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 2.93 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 42.28 crore.
