‘Strict action in case of attempt of any chaos before elections’

nspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said Anyone who tries to worsen the law and order situation before the national elections will be severely suppressed.

He said this while exchanging views with journalists at Sylhet Police Lines on Saturday (April 29) afternoon.

The IGP said, “The police are capable of handling duties in all elections including the city corporation and keeping law and order situation upheld from the point of experience, training and professionalism. The police are ready to carry out any duty assigned by the Election Commission.”

He also said, “Following the Prime Minister’s policy of zero tolerance against militancy and terrorism, the police have been able to control militancy and terrorism.”

Stating that the police are working to dispel rumours, IGP said, “If anyone tries to spread rumors ahead of the election, action will be taken against them as per the existing law.”
