The Ramsagar Express Train is set to be re-launched on Bonarpara-Dinajpur route today (August 29).
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan is expected to inaugurate the re-launching ceremony at Bonarpara station as the chief guest.
According to sources, the train will depart from Bonarpara Rail Junction at 6:30am and reach Dinajpur Railway Station at 11:40am. Later, it will depart from Dinajpur at 3:50pm and reach Bonarpara at 9:15pm.
Earlier, as the train journeyed to Dinajpur via Gaibandha, Kaunia, and Rangpur in the morning, it had become a popular mode of commute for office goers in Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, and Rangpur.
The train was introduced in 2010. However, rail authorities cancelled the train on August 24, 2012 without any notice.
Since then, the commuters of the areas, particularly the middle and fixed income group, had been suffering immensely.
Growers and traders were also facing problems transporting their produce from rural areas to the markets of Gaibandha and Rangpur.
