Earlier on March 24 last, Chand’s mother Ashrafunnesa died. On that the BNP leader attended the mother’s namaj-e-janaza being freed on parole for two and a half hours.

Speaking at a rally of district BNP at Puthia in Rajshahi on March 19 last year, Abu Sayeed Chand said, “Steps need to be taken to send Sheikh Hasina to grave.”

In sequel to this remark, cases were filed against him in different parts of the country on charge of threatening to kill the prime minister. Then on March 24, Rajshahi city police arrested the BNP leader from Bheripara crossing in the city.

Chand’s counsel Barrister Mahfuzur Rahman Milon said as many as 21 cases were filed against Chand. He had to take bail from higher court in all cases. Subsequently, Chand received bail before Eid in a case filed in Faridpur. Since then he had been waiting for release from the prison.

The order of Chand’s bail reached at Rajshahi Central Jail from the High Court early Sunday afternoon. Mahfuzur Rahman Milon was himself present at the jail premises. Then they left the jail premises with Abu Sayeed Chand.
