The Jaitya Party has announced its candidates for 289 constituencies out of total 300 for the upcoming 12th parliamentary election.
Secretary General of the party Mujibul Haque Chunnu made the revelation at Banani office of the Jatiya Party chairman at 5:40pm today.
Chunnu said 289 candidates were named against 300 constituencies. The names of the remaining seats will be announced later.
Of the candidates, the party chairman GM Quader will contest from Rangpur-3 and Dhaka-17 and his wife Sherifa Quader will contest from Dhaka-18.
The party, however, has not nominated any of its leaders to contest from Mymensingh-4 because chief patron of the party and opposition leader Raushan Ershad, who is yet to get nomination paper to contest the 12th national election, has been vying from this constituency in the previous elections.
