1 billion dollar investment to be brought in IT sector: Palak

State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak said that one billion dollars will be invested in the country’s IT sector in the next five years. He also said that ICT is now working like oxygen.

He said these things at the investment announcement ceremony of the country’s first and largest workers’ well-being platform Aponer at Gulshan Club in the capital on Wednesday.

In the speech of the chief guest, the State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology said that currently our ICT sector is earning 1.9 billion dollar export income and 20 lakh youth jobs have been created. In the next five years, this sector will generate export income of 5 billion dollars and create 1 million new jobs.

Mentioning the importance of ICT, Junaid Ahmed Palak said, ICT is now working like oxygen. The function of ICT is to help everyone. As we do not see oxygen in the eye, we take it; Likewise, ICT is invisible to the eye, bringing great changes in society and making people’s lives easier. 1.4 million workers in 32 companies are getting an opportunity to use the internet-based Apan Bazar app because of the internet.

Among others, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) President Farooq Hasan, Startup Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Sami Ahmed, Apan Bazar CEO Saif Rashid spoke on the occasion.
