Shariatpur Park, recently inaugurated by the Shariatpur district administration, is now full of children’s shouts and cheers. From the afternoon until the night, the tender children hold the hands of their parents. Many parents spend afternoons in this park to fulfill their children’s enthusiasm. The parents’ hearts also danced with joy in their barrier-breaking joy. The district administration is praised for creating such opportunities for children’s entertainment.
According to the locals, since no entertainment center was built in Shariatpur for a long time, there was a strong desire among the common people for an entertainment center. The matter came to the attention of the present District Commissioner Mohammad Nizam Uddin Ahmed after he was posted in the district. He took the initiative to build a park based on local donations as there was no government funding for children’s entertainment in a short period of time. This park is built on 1 acre of land opposite Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for the entertainment of young children. The park is named ‘Shariatpur Park’.
The complete work of this park is not finished yet. However, the park has been opened for children from the day of Eid-ul-Fitr for entertainment on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and Bengali New Year. Shariatpur Park is open daily from 3 pm to 8 pm and on public holidays from 10 am to 8 pm. Every day hundreds of children from far and wide throng the park for entertainment. The parents did not forget to thank the district administration for taking such an initiative for the children.
Talking to middle-aged Alpana Akhter while walking around the park. He came with his 5-year-old son Rohan and 8-year-old daughter Tanjila. His house is in Sakhipur of Vedarganj upazila. Seeing Facebook, boys and girls are serious about Shariatpur Park. Finally he has come from so far to fulfill the wishes of his children.
When asked how it felt to travel, Tanjila said, I had a lot of fun. I used to come every day if it was near our house. But our house is far away. It would be nice to have such a park near our house. His brother, 5-year-old Rohan, runs around and screams like he’s losing his temper. The boy was very happy.
Alpana Akhtar said, children have to fulfill their earnestness for happiness. Come today for them. It’s good to hear their squeals and cheers. He also thanked DC Sir for organizing this.
Abu Sufian who came to visit from Angaria said, I have brought two girls. There is no place to go with kids in this city. This park is much better. Now if you want, I will get a chance to travel with the children.
Binodpur teacher Roshan Ara said, DC sir has done commendable work. It was a shame for us that a park was not built even in these days. Thank him. But there is still a lot of work to be done. We believe that the park will be completed by completing all the works during this time.
Shariatpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Mainuddin, who is in overall supervision of the park, said that the park has reached this state in a very short time. We have worked day and night so that the park can be opened for children this Eid. Our efforts have been successful. The way the children flock, beats our imaginations. As there is no children’s entertainment center in this district, people of all ages flock to this park. A lot of work is still going on. Hopefully this park will be more prosperous in a few days.
