Barisal: RAB has arrested Saddam Bhuiyan alias Saddam (30), the absconding accused and the leader of the inter-district dacoit gang in the sensational robbery case of Barisal’s Mehendiganj police station area.
The media cell of RAB-8 informed this information on Saturday.
The arrested Saddam is the son of Lutfar Bhuiya of Darir Char Khajuria area of Mehendiganj upazila.
A gang of robbers led by Saddam Bhuiyan robbed the house of the victim Moselim Mahmud (42) in Darichar Khajuria area under Mehendiganj police station on March 14 midnight.
During the robbery, they threatened the family members by using various indigenous weapons, tied their hands, feet and eyes and broke the locks of the cupboards of the house and looted about 13 lakh 70 thousand cash and gold ornaments.
In the incident, the victim filed a case of organized robbery at Mehendiganj police station.
The investigating officer in charge of the police station confirmed the direct involvement and leadership of the accused in the robbery incident.
After identifying the location of the accused, members of RAB 8 conducted a joint operation with RAB-11 headquarters company, Narayanganj camp and arrested Saddam.
It is known that under the leadership of Saddam Bhuiyan, he collects manpower from different regions of the country and commits robberies. Also, there are multiple robbery cases against the accused in Mehendiganj police station and other neighboring district police stations.
Saddam was handed over to Mehendiganj police station.
