150 injured in animal sacrifice

During the holy Eid-ul-Azha, 150 people were injured while slaughtering sacrificial animals and slaughtering meat in neighboring districts of Dhaka and were treated at Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital. Among them, a seriously injured person named Nurul Islam (69) has been admitted to the hospital.

Most of the injured are seasonal butchers. Some were injured while assisting and chopping the meat during the cow sacrifice. On Monday (June 17) 150 injured persons were treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital till 4 pm.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital emergency department doctor Dr. Nirjhar Biswas said that patients came from different places from morning to afternoon. Most of them had their hands and feet cut off. They said they were injured while slaughtering the sacrificial cow and cutting the meat. Among them, the condition of one named Nurul Islam (69) is critical, he has been admitted to the hospital.

Liaqat Ali, nursing officer in charge of the emergency department, said that from morning to afternoon, about 150 people came to the hospital. They are being treated in the emergency department. Although many hospitals are on holiday during Eid, there is no disruption in medical services.

Assistant in charge of Dhaka Medical Police Camp. Masud said that between 7:30 AM and 4:00 PM, 150 people got injured while slaughtering the sacrificial cow and cutting the meat. The number of injured will continue to rise. So far seasonal butchers have been among the injured.

Seasonal butcher Amirul Islam came to Paikpara in Narayanganj after being injured in the stomach by a cow. He said that 6 of them were preparing to slaughter a big cow in Narayanganj. At that time, Amirul was injured by a cow.

Seasonal butcher Nazrul was injured while cutting meat at a house on Road No. 1 in Dhanmondi and was treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

A man named Nazim was injured while slaughtering a cow in Chawkbazar area of ​​Old Dhaka and was treated at the hospital. He said that a part of his hand was cut by Huzur’s knife during cow slaughter.

Many people from Malibagh, Wari, Kamalapur and other areas of the capital were injured during cow sacrifice and received treatment at the hospital.
