The International Court of Justice ordered Israel to allow aid to enter Gaza

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ordered Israel to ensure the free flow of aid to prevent famine in the war-torn Gaza Strip.

ICZ’s order came after observers warned Gaza could face famine within weeks.

This information was given in a report of the British media BBC on Friday.
According to the report, the UN’s highest court said Israel must authorize the “immediate provision of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian assistance.”

Meanwhile, Israel has called allegations that it is blocking aid from reaching Gaza “totally baseless”.

Earlier last January, this international court in The Hague ordered Israel to take all measures to prevent genocidal activities in Gaza.

However, even if there is a legal obligation to comply with the order of ICZ, this court has no power to implement it.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification Global Initiative, run by the World Food Program and others, warned in a report last week that a “catastrophic” situation was emerging in Gaza.

All of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents are “experiencing high levels of acute food insecurity,” the report said, and there are clear indications that famine will begin in the northern part of the territory before the end of May.

In the order, the ICJ said Gaza was “no longer at risk of famine” but “on the brink of famine” and that 31 people, including 27 children, had already died due to malnutrition and water shortages, according to UN observers.
